YARINA LODGE

Strategically located on the Napo River only 60 minutes by covered motorized canoe from Puerto Francisco de Orellana (EL COCA) lays Yarina Lodge. Deep in the wilds of the Amazonian jungle in an area of forest with the highest diversity of micro-habitats in the Napo area, reserved for indigenous Quichuas. It was established with an aim to alert both foreigners and Ecuadorians of the cause of environmentalism in the Amazon. There are more species of animals, birds, reptiles and insects than anywhere else on the Napo River.

 

Now it is one of the most important environmental centers in the area, in conjunction with Yuturi Conservation Group and San Carlos Foundation. Visiting the different adventure trails of the reserve, you learn about popular plants used by the Quichuas for medicine, moreover you will enjoy watching birds, armadillos, monkeys, snakes and caimans, all this in 450 hectares of primary forest with the assistance of naturalist guides.

 

Features
With a capacity for 50 passengers, the Yarina lodge offers you 20 huts with private bathrooms, constructed from typical materials mostly using bamboo and toquilla straw. During eight daily hours (8am - 12m) (6pm - 10pm) electricity is provided for the entire lodge. In the main cabin, the dining room and social area are located, pleasant spots to rest, make friends or simply to enjoy the view.

 

 

ITINERARY 7 DAYS/6 NIGHTS
Monday

Breakfast. After breakfast we will take a small canoe to navigate on the Manduro river until reaching the Sapococha Lagoon. We will walk around the lagoon enjoying the sounds of birds, frogs, monkeys, etc. In addition we will learn about different types of aquatic plants. Return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Socali path, characterized for a variety of different jungle lands. This path is used as an introduction trail to learn about the flora and fauna that is possible to find in different types of forest. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.

 

Tuesday

After breakfast we will visit the Capibara path. An adventure trail with many swamps. In this trail you will see some palm trees that are impossible to see in other places. Return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, without rubber boots and in comfortable dress, (shorts are recommended) the local guides are going to teach us how to use the blowpipe. After this activity we will take a small canoe to enjoy some piranha fishing. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.

 

Wednesday

Breakfast. We will wear our rubber boots and jungle dress and take a canoe up river while watching birds, butterflies, orchids and amphibians until we reach the trail "Dos ramas". We will take a short hike to learn about medicinal plants, birds and animals. Return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, we will take the Tucan trail.  path that is characterized by its ease for birdwatching, in the area we have recorded over 350 species of birds. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.

 

Thursday

After breakfast we will take the motor boat to go out of the borders of our reserve and visit an indigenous family of the Quichuas del Oriente community. Our guides will talk to you about traditions and costumes of these tribes. Return to the lodge to have lunch.

In the afternoon, we will walk through the "Guatusos trail". A new opportunity to learn from our guides the utility of some plants, about birds, insects and animals. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.

 

Friday

After breakfast, we will go deep inside in the jungle until we reach a small river surrounded by stones, sand, clay and other elements. In this place the guides will show us the techniques and instruments to make protractors baskets heavy objects with the resources of the Amazon.

In the afternoon, we will visit the Socali path, characterized for a variety of different jungle lands. This path is used as an introduction trail to learn about the flora and fauna that is possible to find in different types of forest. Return to the lodge to have dinner. Resting time.
