Climbing Cotopaxi Volcano is a unique exiting experience. This adventure starts at the parking lot of Cotopaxi National Park with a hiking to the refuge.
The climb begins at night time so that when you reach the summit, you can watch the sunrise, having spectacular views of Quito to the north, Tungurahua & Chimborazo to the south. The climbing departs from Jose Rivas refugee and the day before the climb you have a trek to the refuge, with a glacier practice (depends on weather).
Climbing this altitude is very difficult so we recommend two different things. First be acclimatized at the altitude of 3000m and second one climbing twice around 5000m in the same week.
If you are clueless of where can you do this, ask for our acclimatization packages! We have great deals, without mentioning that taking the package increases the probability of reaching the top. Since Cotopaxi has its own micro-climate, you must be prepared with warm clothes.
